Easter Word Blocks - NEW RELEASE

I am so excited that Easter is around the corner.  When growing up that meant that warm weather was around the corner.  However, I live in Vegas and we have already experienced some 80 degree weather days so I am not looking for better weather.  I am already enjoying it.  But because I live in a desert landscape, I miss seeing the new flowers blossom and.  So I needed to add a pop of color somehow to my home decor.  I loved my St Patty's Day blocks so much, I created some Easter ones.  The pop of color was just what my house needed. 
While the kids played outside for the afternoon, I enjoyed some "me time" creating my Easter Word blocks.   Honestly one of my favorite things about Easter is Starburst Jellybeans so knew I had to have a jellybean block to honor my favorite treat.  The Jellybean block is my favorite one.

Our Leprechaun Trap is Set . . .

is yours?!?!

St Patrick's Day is my daughters favorite holiday so I make sure to make it extra special just for her.  The Leprechaun that visits our house is a sneaky little guy who likes to mess up our home.  He is famous for turning over the couches and chairs, throwing books everywhere, dragging out all the toys and just plain making a huge mess.  This drives my daughter crazy so this year she asked me to help her make a trap. 

My hubby was a little worried about this idea.  He didn't want her to be disappointed when her trap didn't work.  I agreed with him so I created a treasure hunt that the Leprechaun will leave behind with a pot of gold. 

I had grand plans to create cute little cards for this treasure hunt, but life with a newborn baby is just plain crazy.  Sometimes I have to simplify my plans so a simple word document was my creation tool today.   I wanted to share my treasure hunt clues with you.  Most of them are generic enough for you to use, others may have to be modified a bit.  I hope that you will be inspired to make St Patty's Day a fun holiday for your kids to celebrate. 

Nice try, your trap was well made, but . . .

You will have to try harder if you want to catch me!

I love to make a mess of things, as you can see

But also a treasure I did bring.

You will have to search high, you will have to search low,

To find the hidden gold you know.

Now, on to your treasure hunt

Here’s your first clue

You’ll find it nicely tucked in a SHOE.

This next place would make a nice HOME for someone like me

Maybe I will buy this pink HOUSE for my family of three!

You’re getting closer to the treasure that is to be found.

When retrieving this clue try not to get WET

Because this treasure hunt is not over yet!

Holiday Flare

Some of you may have seen my tablescape over at my sister's blog - My Computer is My Canvas.  She was the one who inspired me to decorate for the holidays.  I am not the type to decorate the whole house for the holidays.  I just want a splash of holiday flare so I stick to decorating my dinning room table with a fun tablescape.  Throwing together some holiday flare is easy.  Here's what I like to do . . .

I love to decorate with food.  When I was looking for some St Patrick's Day decorations, there was not much to be found so I headed for the produce section of the grocery store where the limes caught my eye.  Since I was going for a green motif, limes were perfect.  Then I headed to the candy section and the Skittles wrapper caught my eye because of the rainbow.  These two items are not what you would normally think of when decorating for St Patty's Day, but because I was thinking outside the box I found some awesome additions to my tablescape. 

These little pots of gold are my favorite part of the tablescape.  They are actually cauldrons that I purchased during the Halloween season last year just for this purpose.  All I had to do was add some Rolos and some cute ribbon and the cauldrons were transformed.  I am always on the look out for some simple decorations that will make a fun addition to my tablescape all year round.

St Patty's Day Word Blocks

One of my favorite holiday decorations is a set of Halloween stackable word blocks.  I picked them up a few years ago and can't wait to get them out every Halloween.  I have always wanted a set for every holiday, but was never able to find anything similar.  So, while I was "pinning" one night, the thought popped into my mind to make my own.  I wished I would have thought of this years ago.  

This project was quick, easy and fun.  In fact it was so easy that I was able to complete my blocks while my 7 week old baby took a nap snugged up in his BABYBJORN sling.  All you need is some wooden blocks (bought and cut at the local Home Depot), paint, sand paper, Mod Podge and the DIY Printable available for purchase in my Etsy Shop.

Arise and Shine Forth - LDS YW Printable

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and am lucky enough to be involved with the Young Women's program.  That means I get to spend my time with the 12 - 18 year old girls of the church.  Each year, there is a common theme that is used church wide for teaching the girls standards and values.  This year the theme is Arise and Shine Forth.  We, as YW leaders, wanted to give the girls something to keep with them through out the year to remember this theme and what's better than chapstick.  I love all the chapstick covers ideas from My Computer Is My Canvas so used them to create our own custom chapstick labels.  I didn't just stop there, I created a bookmark to give at a later date and a Subway Art Poster to hang on our bulletin board.  We are so excited for this years theme and to give the girls these fun handouts throughout the year.

Anniversary Subway Art

My hubby and I are celebrating 11 years today - YEAH for us!!!  My hubby and I wish that our anniversary was on a different date because our special day seems to get lost in all the holiday celebrations.  So over the years it seems our anniversary slides by almost unnoticed.  This morning was no exception.  At least I remembered to tell him Happy Anniversary just as he was walking out the door for work. 

Even though we always tell each other "NO GIFTS,"  I felt a little bad about not even getting a babysitter so we could enjoy a nice dinner together.  SO I got my thinking cap on and started to plan a special dinner at home.    I started my planning by making our Anniversary Subway Art and was so please with how it turned out.  Then the kids and I went shopping to get some Sparkling Apple Cider (my hubby's fav) and Nothing Bundt Cakes for dessert.  I came home, set the table (table cloth and all) made dinner and waited for my hubby's surprised look when he walked in the door from work.  The best part of dinner - Bread Stick Twists.  You can see how to make them HERE in Pintrest.
